[edit] The Foxtail Tavern
"#foxtailtavern" on FurIRC exists as two blended concepts. Firstly, it is a chatroom where all the participants happen to be furries. Secondly, it is a roleplaying environment centred around the fictional Foxtail Tavern establishment. Although roleplaying has a long and storied history in the Tavern, documented on this website and elsewhere, roleplay within the Tavern is egalitarian and open-access. The Tavern has no clearly defined position in space or time; there is no "scene" beyond that of an ephemeral bar... somewhere. As a result, you can come to chat or to RP. We're friendly that way :D

FurIRC is a small, independently-run IRC server supporting one primary channel (#foxtailtavern) and a few other, somewhat more ephemeral chatrooms. It is owned by Alex Osaki, known in the fandom as Klisoura, and run by Vulpecula and Ebon. FurIRC as an IRC network was founded in August, 2004.

TavernWiki is primarily a repository of roleplaying information, including character biographies and RP descriptions. More character biographies, written in an "in-universe" style, are posted at www.foxtailtavern.com/journals/, a series of character-blogs intended to foster creativity and develop characters organically. The site also has some guidelines (there are very few hard and fast "rules") designed to foster Fun and Happy Roleplay. Yes :D

Web access through a Java client is provided at www.foxtailtavern.com/tavern. If you have an IRC client, you can point it to irc1.furirc.org at port 6667. Everyone is welcome! Tell your friends! :D
